Christ Lutheran Preschool, previously known as Vista Village Preschool, was founded in 1972. (The name of Vista Village Preschool had originally been chosen for the school because of its proximity to the Vista Village shopping center.) That first year, the school operated out of a room at the Boys and Girls Club of Newhall. Our first year enrollment consistd of 34 students with two teachers and an aide. In 1973, construction of Christ Lutheran Church and its activities building was completed. The Preschool moved to the activities building which accommodated three classrooms and allowed enrollment to increase to 44 students and six staff members. As that year progressed, an afternoon daycare program was added to serve working parents of children attending Meadows Elementary School. In time, the preschool program outgrew the church activities building and in 1986, a new preschool was constructed adjacent to the church. This construction now accommodated five classrooms and increased enrollment to 72 children. Today, 153 children attend the preschool. In July of 1994, the name of the school was changed to Christ Lutheran Preschool to properly identify the school as part of the ministry of Christ Lutheran Church. That same year, the Parent-Toddler Program was introduced and started with an enrollment of six children. Today, this program has grown to offer two classes a week meeting Monday and Tuesday mornings with an enrollment of 26. In 2009, Christ Lutheran Preschool celebrated its 37th Anniversary in providing families of Santa Clarita Valley with a quality, age-appropriate, hands-on learning preschool program. We take pride in our professional staff, their qualifications and credentials and their commitment to the education of young children. Part of our commitment includes our continued aid to College of the Canyons in training Early Childhood Education students. We are happy to have you as part of the family. Welcome to our school.
